CEO Succession Plan

Hope Clinic for Women has never been stronger. We have a highly qualified staff providing incredible care. We are fiscally solid with a growing community of supporters. We are attracting volunteers near and far. And we are collaborating with dozens of partner agencies ensuring continuum of care for our growing client base.

It is in this season of success and celebration (and after much prayer and discernment from God), I recently presented my succession plan to the Board of Directors. I will remain in my role as CEO until the close of the fiscal year (September 30th) and will be available part time to assist the new CEO as needed for the next fiscal year. I assure you – our team is ready.”

Dear Hope Clinic Partner,

First, there is much to celebrate. We celebrate what God has been doing this past year and what we have accomplished in the last 18 years since I was hired as CEO of Hope Clinic for Women.

Client Services:

  • Pregnancy Services: In the last 18 years we have seen 500-650 women a year and celebrate at least 350 births each year. That is 6,000+ babies born!
    • This year, we are up 12% in pregnancy visits with many taking advantage of remote education classes, mentoring and counseling. We expect to serve 700 by fiscal close.
    • We implemented our Bridge Program (medical care, counseling, case management, classes, and mentorship in exchange for material assistance) in 2008 and each year over 35% of our clients participate in this program through the baby’s first birthday.
    • This past year we successfully moved the entire program online due to Covid-19 restrictions and re-emerged with a hybrid model making remote care possible while providing onsite care for those needing community.
  • Medical services: We began STI testing/ultrasounds in 2001 but grew dramatically in 2005 as we created a full time Medical Manager/NP position; adding well women exams in 2016.
    • Each year we serve over 500 women with medical care at a nominal fee. With more clients unemployed or underemployed, it is not surprising we are up 69% in medical visits this year and expected to serve 600 by fiscal close.
  • Prevention Education: This program was re-introduced four years ago across public and private schools. Even with Covid restrictions, our program has continued to flourish with students and parents, both in schools and at churches, reaching over 1,000 a year.
  • Counseling services: In 2007 we began a partnership with graduate practicum programs at: Vanderbilt, Trevecca, TSU, Lipscomb, Belmont University, and beyond. This has provided 6-9 graduate students each semester providing medical and clinical care for 120+ clients/year.
    • In 2008, post abortion counseling expanded to all pregnancy loss (miscarriage, stillbirth and infant death) at the request/need of partner hospital St. Thomas Health Services
    • In 2010 St. Thomas expanded our partnership to include referrals for postpartum depression (something impacting 15% of all pregnancies).
    • This year we successfully launched a zoom post-abortion support group (12-step/celebrate recovery style) attracting women from across the city, state, and even country. This summer we are also launching a live post abortion group at new partner: Hope Center Ministries.

Operations:

  • In my first years at Hope Clinic, we cut operating expenses by 25% while increasing client capacity 400%.
  • Debt FREE! We have been paying off debt steadily over the years and with a one-time donation in December 2020 we paid off our mortgage completely in January!
  • We also have 90 days cash reserve as expected by grant funders.
  • We transitioned all IT to the cloud; including Electronic Medical Records. This greatly reduces capital costs and increases reliability and capability.
  • Standard Operating Procedures have been developed across all client and administrative departments.

I assure you – our team is ready.

Board Chairperson Joy Styles and the Board of Directors will oversee the search process and keep you posted when a successor has been named. I am excited for this next person and have already been praying for them. I believe God has been preparing them as much as they have been preparing me.

If any of you would like to meet, I would be honored to make time for you this summer. I have many people to hug and thank. I will be forever grateful for your support of me over my time as your CEO.

With great thanksgiving,
