Remembering Luci Freed
The founder and executive director of Hope Clinic for Women (previously Crisis Pregnancy Center) for our first 17 years.Whenever people speak of Luci to me, the word “Maverick” always feels like the perfect fit.
Founding a nonprofit in the early 80s through the mire of the political landscape and bustle of the Nashville of old took guts, and Luci had them. In founding Hope Clinic to value the woman and the baby equally, she was a pioneer in the world of pregnancy centers and a leader among all nonprofits here in Middle Tennessee. Her sentiment continues to ring true today as we have grown to expand our services while holding that value steady. She created an incredible organization that has stood the test of time as we round about on our 40th anniversary next year. Luci was a gifted author, counselor, teacher, and leader.
I am so grateful for the years of dedication she put in to start the first pregnancy center in Nashville, creating a place for love, support, and hope for countless women. I’ve said this before, but the women that Luci and her team counseled nearly 40 years ago to choose life have made a ripple effect: their children are having children that are impacting this world we live in. What a legacy!
We are eternally grateful and know Luci is receiving her due reward to be with our Father in heaven seeing the incredible impact she made here on Earth.
In Christ’s Love,
Kailey Cornett
